On my way to wollongong today I stopped at Lake Illawarra, and was surprised to see <200 black swans on the lake, all facing into the wind (it was a windy day!) Also noticeable was a large number of chestnut teal. Forgot my binocs so there may have been other species too. Anyone have any idea why so many swans might be gathered?
