My male has dead white neck, the females have grey necks, in keeping with nominate race tibicen (Morecombe 2003 and Taylor & Day 1993).

Ref Gisela Kaplan, Behaviour & Biology of the Austn Magpie for heaps of scientifically based lore re the mag., In my families the female is/ has always been the slenderer bird and yes I reckon she  had 2 husbands in tow last season and poss even an incestuous set-up with 1 husb bein fr a previous brood
