Very interesting, Sue, your report of the homey eaters, seen along Burrinjuck
Road. Interesting that they were flying in foggy and cloudy conditions. I
wonder where they were flying from. You said that they were not sure which way
they were to fly. No sun to help them. I have looked at the map, and feel
that perhaps that route could be the one that led on to Berrima. For very many
years my friend, Isobel Crowe noted the passage of thousands of yfhes past her
home there. Of course there are many routes. I like to hear from people about
their sightings. Today Julian Teh reported them flying over Captain's Flat.
(Were they to the north or south of CF?)
In the countryside, not so much in the suburbs, the yfhes like to follow tree
lines. They probably feel more secure as they can dive down to cover if they
feel threatened. They certainly do this at Warragandra, on Jerrabatgulla
Creek. Also we used to see them flying from Angle Crossing, along a tree line
and across the road to Cooma, just south of Williamsdale
Elizabeth
