Like many others, I thought Stu’s now-famous spider made a great story.  So, evidently, did James Carleton who was quite animated in summarising the Canberra Times report on Radio National Breakfast last Tuesday.  He seemed particularly pleased with his seque to the other Canberra story, something like “I hope Mr Harris owns his house, because Canberra house prices are the highest in the country …”

 

The below commemorative graphic came about while I was preparing slides for my COG talk tomorrow evening on the painted-snipe.  You will be relieved to hear that this one did not make the cut, as they say in golfing circles in between listening to fake bird calls generated by production assistants, at major events in the US, dragging their chirping loudspeakers through the spider-infested deep rough.
