Sometimes it is hard to know if people are being serious or not. I don't know these two birds at all, so I have no idea. However the picture no more tells me that it is she was telling him off and this was definitive proof that they were a couple than that they are each a half of two couples and having a bit of a territorial dispute. I don't know what is the full story. It could be either story or something else.

I understand that for several years a mixed pair (Little and Long-billed) of Corellas has been observed at Callum Brae. In a walk out there yesterday, we note one of each species inspecting different hollows a meter or so apart. It wasn't clear whether they were a pair or not ... but when I sent this picture to David Clark, his interpretation was that she was telling him off and this was definitive proof that they were a couple.
