Dear All Who Are Well Informed,

Currawang: 8:30am

I found myself being watched by a dear little bird this morning.  However, although he had a little patch of white above his beak, and a very red chest, he also had a very black stomach as well as black striated back.  His wings had white streaks in the right places, but I just can't find an identity kit that will confirm this could possibly be a Scarlet Robin.  Sighted one once, six years ago, briefly, but with witnesses and he was easily identified.  Have had Mistletoe Birds - a pair - buzzing around in dead tagasaste and live wattles, but this chap was all alone and quite happy in the company of White-Browed Scrubwrens, Grey Fantails and many Yellow-Rumped Thornbills.  By the time I'd gone to fetch the camera and staked out a place in the vicinity, loads of foliage, I could not sight him again.  Any help to be had?
