Subject: Great job opportunity in WA
Hi,
Please see this job opportunity, and feel free to circulate to your networks.
With apologies for cross-postings.
Kind regards,
James
A wonderful opportunity exists for a talented and energetic person to coordinate BirdLife Australia’s Birds in the Great Western Woodlands project, a research project that will also engage volunteer bird observers and communities throughout the project region. The Great Western Woodlands is the largest intact temperate woodland remaining on earth: more than 16 million hectares of spectacular woodlands, mallee, shrublands and other habitats are of critical importance to many species. BirdLife Australia is partnering with The Nature Conservancy for this exciting project.
Applicants must have project coordination experience and a demonstrated understanding of large-scale research or conservation initiatives and landscape ecology. Excellent communication, negotiation and strategic thinking skills are critical. The successful applicant will have GIS and data management skills and be a demonstrated self-starter. The preferred candidate will have experience in community-based conservation initiatives and existing relevant networks. Ornithologists or ecologists with field experience, experience in remote areas and good bird identification skills will be highly regarded. A ‘C’ Class driver’s licence and access to a vehicle is essential. Applications close on April 9.
