10 WTNT hawking low over suburb around 19:00

Spotted Harrier, White-throated Needletail Stony Creek Nature Reserve
A single Spotted Harrier and about 50 White-throated Needletails observed this morning.

Two sighted in Northern Rainforest Gully

White-throated Needletail, Brown Treecreeper Riverview, Cotter Rd
White-throated Needletail (at least 300-500) circling as a flock in a thermal and then darting across the sky in smaller groups. Watched for about 30 minutes and looked hard for Fork-tailed Swifts but none observed. Also 2 Brown Treecreepers heard.

Thu 16 Feb Australian Koel Antill St Watson/Hackett ACT
A Koel chick has fledged today from its nest on Antill St, Watson/Hackett. Parent wattlebirds are busy feeding as well as fending off other wattlebirds. Koel summer population has increased in Canberra for some years and several breeding events have now been recorded.

Wed 15 Feb White-throated Needletail Kambah
White-throated Needletails seen in small flocks - about half a dozen - high in the sky and hawking insects - so variously travelling fast and then banking and turning, or almost stalling, to catch their prey. Seen on Monday afternoon (14th) around 5.30pm and again this afternoon at around 4pm and again at 7.30pm.

Restless Flycatcher Cotter Road near Riverview horse agistment
Just where Cotter Road begins its final descent down to the Murrumbidgee. Initially identified by call, then seen as it flew between trees, with the completely white chin and underside quite evident.
