I contacted the Eremaea database administrators and have received this response to Mark's comments of inaccuracy...
'A couple of months ago I checked all Australian bird maps and queried all the outlying records and obvious errors - there were only 100 or so odd records out of the 1.5 million for Australia, so I think that the database is in pretty good shape. Moderators do pick up virtually all of the obvious errors'.
