It is a few years since I have visited this area and was pleasantly surprised with the improved facilities and of course the prolific birdlife. There is a sign at one of the lagoons inviting people to find the Freckled Duck which was successful;there it was swimming in and out of the reeds with a couple of turtles. Also spotted the Blue Billed Duck in a neighbouring lagoon. When posting my list to the Eremea data base I learned that both the Freckled Duck and the Blue Billed have not been recorded for this area in the past twelve months and additionally there is a question of whether species at this reserve are “captive” and hence not eligible for recording. I have asked for a definition of captive as a  guide for the future as I was tending to assume that this area would be similar to say Kelly's Swamp
