Margaret, in general the best pond for tortoises is the one with a lot of cumbungi marked with a red arrow below.  I have seen a dozen in there when the water was low.  Perhaps they cross from the large nearby dam on the Mugga lease.  However the chap shown and his friends were in the relatively bare dam marked with a green arrow.  I’m sure other dams have them.   In the absence of rocks or logs to climb out on, they are visible to the observer while performing the snorkel float.    G
