Phillip,

This reminds me of an experience my daughter had some 20 or so years ago when she was doing field work for her geology honours degree.

It was a cold winter's day and she was squatting down examining a rock formation on a hilltop near Nimmitabel when a large shadow came over her.  She looked up to find a wedge-tail hovering about ten feet above her, obviously mistaking her auburn hair for something to catch.  She said that, alarming as it was see to see the eagle so close, she had wished she had had a camera with her to capture the moment.

This is of no significance, just fun. I was out for a stroll on My Taylor this morning. Was warm and sunny. I was standing still and became aware of a shadow rapidly fall on me and pass by. I looked up to see a Wedge-tailed Eagle fly over just past the sun. Quite nice really. Also the pair of Kestrels that I seem to find on every visit, still there again.
