This (very early) report of 22 August was definitely an error. My mistake.
A nearby house keeps chickens and one of the hens seems to have developed a call (after laying?) that goes on for about 30 seconds, and sounds (sounded- Ive now heard it about 3 times) like a koel calling in the distance.
Apologies-

At c. 6.55am this morning, while enjoying my breakfast coffee (nr Corroboree Park, Ainslie), I heard a koel calling faintly in the distance for about 20-30 seconds. By the time I realised what I was hearing, and opened the door to get a bearing on it, it had stopped. Probably in the Braddon direction.
