A pleasant day spent in the wet gullies of the Brindabellas at the
weekend yielded most of the anticipated species in good numbers.
Conditions are good and there was a lot of bird activity.
The recent reports of migrant Brush Cuckoos and Satin Flycatchers at
low altitude were reflected in the hills. Additionally a few
Cicadabirds had arrived and were busily advertising themselves. In
some places Rufous Fantails outnumbered Grey Fantails!
I saw Pilotbirds, Eastern Whipbirds and Bassian Thrushes in multiple locations.
Still no sign of Wonga Pigeon returning to its pre-bushfire haunts.
