Interesting note from Elisabeth.....Last year staring aimlessly out of my kitchen window chewing my Breakfast brandy and Muesli....I saw a Rat...doesn't matter what sort, but a fat one, body at least 6 inches,150 mm,15 cms long, they live in my compost heap.Any way Ratty ventures across two little walls,as young Rats will....So he is marooned, well sort of...two of the Ubiquitous Corrywongs, took up position on the clothes line...they are natives so I love them and don't mind they have killed 99% of the small passerines in my area...any way as I was juicing some veg and fruit in the forlorn hope I can avoid the grim reaper a bit longer, out of the corner of my eye I saw Ratty making a run back to the compost heap, its dinner time,Mum has Cauliflower Cheese on Tuesdays...to cut a long story short, one of the Corrywongs, anticipating Ratty, lands on the Wall he was making for and in the neatest move one might imagine, grabs his tail at the base and flicks him up in the Air,Ratty is almost turned over....Almost but not quite...he lands on his side and savagely bit the Corrywong as it lunged for his throat..he kept moving, one secret of survival in the Wild...he lived to see another Day.
