Great sequence of flight shots, Geoffrey.

Shows they are as much at home in the air as sitting in trees, or stalking the mud banks at night.

Thanks

As Terry says, several (I counted 4 this morning) night herons can be seen at the spot he indicated.  A family seems to have been living there over the last few years, although whether able to be recorded on a particular visit was a matter of luck  -  rather less luck being needed now.  The very exposed ‘hide’ is not relevant at present, and the exposed  roosts mean that the birds can be put to flight by a casual stroller along the pedestrian path.  Perhaps they will be more at home when the deciduous exotics regain their foliage.
