Rhonda and I recently visited South Queensland.  Just prior to departing home we purchased our first Thomas and Thomas guide to finding birds.  We had an opportunity to put it to the test during a few days spent at Inskip Point and Cooloola NP.  Using the very good and simple directions of Thomas and Thomas we saw Black-breasted Button-quail, Ground Parrot, King Quail and Eastern Grass Owl.  For anyone intending to pursue the last three at Cooloola, the distance from the main road to the power line is only three kilometres (Not 5) and the “fire break” referred to is actually the service road for the power line.  The remaining details are spot-on.

Regards
