Leave be? Rescue?

Just stumbled across a young crested pigeon on the ground near the entrance to 
the Mt Majura reserve. Too young to fly it seems. Would you leave it be and let 
nature take its course? Rescue? Is it of interest to any researchers? I've let 
it be for now and welcome advice.
