Hi Rosemary

I did receive a couple of responses – Thanks Lindell and Geoffrey for your replies.

From Lindell’s response I believe the trees are White Hawthorn.

I was also told by a friend who has lived in Mirool Street Duffy since the early 1970’s that the trees were planted as street trees – however most of them were removed by residents as they caused a great deal of mess when tramped into the houses.

Great for the parrots though.  I also noted from some fruit on the ground that only the flesh seems to have been eaten.

Cheers

Jean

Hello Jean,

Did you ever receive a reply as to the name of the tree, please?

There are several of these, now mature, trees around Flynn and I don't recall their having produced berries before  (or not in the quantities we have seen)

Thanks for your help,

Rosemary
