This message is directed to anyone who works in the Tuggeranong Town Centre.
I have established a lunch time bird observers group amongst my
colleagues who work in the Caroline Chisholm Centre (that's the biggest,
greyest, ugliest building in Tuggeranong). Our goal is to learn about
which birds are present in the vicinity of where we work. Through word
of mouth, we have people who work in other buildings in the town centre
participating, so I thought I would advertise more broadly to see if
others were interested in joining us.
We usually meet at 12.30pm on Thursday (or sometimes Friday) and walk
for an hour. We have recorded 63 species since February and I submit
observation records for entry into the COG database. Places we visit
include Pine Island, the dam behind the sports oval, the eucalypt
plantings around the Archives and TOP buildings and the lake. Please
note that this endeavour is not intended to compete with the mid-week
field trips that occur as it is usually on a different day, is for
shorter duration and is limited in location. This is not affiliated
with COG in any way, isn't covered by any insurance and is very casual.
I'm just spruiking it here. If anyone has concerns, I ask that you
please direct them to me off-line, unless you believe that is is in the
interest of everyone that they be made public.
If you work in the Tuggeranong Town Centre and would like to join the
group, please email me at:
Kind regards
Matthew Frawley
