The water in Pond No 5, according to Geoffrey Dabb’s excellent map on the COG website, is the lowest level I have seen.  This creates a small mudflat around the edges in which three black-fronted dotterels were feeding.  Also, long grass has been mown, and access to these ponds is the easiest I have encountered.

 

Was this a nankeen kestrel that I saw?  It actually came much closer than that, but it approached me from behind and I was unprepared for it.
