Hi Dennis,
Do I need to respond?    Not really. Sorry all.
Yes of course. I know that. I meant that Dimitris' comment that it is a female Golden Whistler is right. Dimitris did not comment at all about the apostrophe.

It was Margaret Leggoe who asked the insightful question about the missing apostrophe.

About is there an apostrophe somewhere in this name? Depends whether it is named for someone called Brooke or someone called Brookes.
Tragically somewhere back in history, someone proclaimed that the otherwise grammatically correct apostrophe in place names be deleted. Hence the thousands if not millions of place names like Batemans Bay, that presumably is named for someone called Bateman. So of course it should be Bateman's Bay. However without the apostrophe it renders the s in the name Batemans Bay, confusing, if not totally ludicrous. At the very least it should be Bateman Bay as it can only mean that if the name was not Batemans, then there is more than one Bateman and thus should be Batemen. This is an appalling thing and has contributed to the misunderstanding of the poor innocent and otherwise nice apostrophe. This misunderstanding has grown even worse and in entirely new directions in recent times.

Hi Margaret,

Your bird is a female Golden Whistler.

All the best,

Went back to Brookes* Hill this morning, found a spot a-buzz with small birds until a grey butcherbird came along.  Things were eerily  quiet after that.  Who was this little girl(?).  I have a feeling she may be the drab female of a species with a more colourful male.  Sorry about the quality of the photo.
