There are 20,000 vascular plant species in Australia. So, there are many species to chose from. Maybe you haven't found the right ones yet. There are 30,000 introduced species and 1-3,000 species of weeds. Australia is unique in many ways. I see no need to plant exotics for 'native' birds. Benj
