Breeding plumage in April????

Dear COGs,

 

I would love some comment from the experts on the plumage on the white-faced heron.  I had not seen one before with such a dark rufous breast.  It was shot at the Jerrabomberra wetlands on 17/4/11.  About a dozen birds were seen flying around the swamp that morning, and I was lucky enough to have 5 spend a short time feeding at the south end where I had planted myself.
