Yesterday a covey of 6 quail - too fast for firm identification, but I thought Brown Q) took off and sped away from us at Lake Ginninderra Western Foreshore District Park- on the mown track through the grassland to the west of the cycle path between Macdermott Place and Beissel St. Further north near Yerra Beach there was a pair of Black Swans with 4 well-grown cygnets. Good numbers of Dusky Moorhen and Purple Swamphens compared to the summer months.
