I think you are definitely heading in the correct direction with 'Slaughter'.  Other candidate words for consideration could include "Massacre" or my current favourite an "Abattoir of Currawongs".

Given their propensity to steal nestlings, by analogy with a Murder of Crows, perhaps a Slaughter of Currawongs?
