There have been small flocks of Yellow-faced Honeyeaters over our house in Carwoola all day.  Mainly 2 - 5 with a largest flock (about 1:30pm) of 12.  They have consistently been heading for the Hoskinstown Plain.

A less seasonal event was hearing a Shining Bronze-cuckoo call a couple of times during the day.  In the last 20 years of the GBS there have only been records of this species after the end of March in two years.  Such records were more common in the first 8 years.

I surveyed Kambah Pool - on the Murrumbidgee River - this morning for 90-minutes from 0930 and 1100.  I counted a total of 350 honeyeaters flying over in an East-southeasterly direction.  The breakdown is 330 Yellow-faced Honeyeater and 20 White-naped Honeyeater, which as a percentage is about 94% Yellow-faced and 6% White-naped.  Largest flock size was 50 birds.

Kind regards
