A snap from yesterday near the Jerra carpark.  A Rufous Whistler has caught a caterpillar which has a remarkable resemblance to a twig on a eucalyptus branch, an unsuccessful deception on this occasion.  Is this not evolution in a nutshell?  The caterpillar becoming ever more cryptic to increase its own prospects for survival, the insect-eating bird becoming ever more alert to possible prey.
