Surveyed on the 29th, a beautiful day. It was a pleasure to see that the Flame robins are returning - single birds recorded at two sites. The highlight in terms of survey records was a flock of 13 King parrots flying into the first site as I started out. Between sites I saw diamond firetails at three separate locations.  One was in an acacia behind the brick building which I think is a pumping station, up next to the quarry fence. The same smallish acacia had two fan-tailed cuckoos and a white-plumed honeyeater (all put to flight by several workmen's trucks turning up while I was there). Only a single dusky woodswallow was sighted all morning, although I'm aware there are still at least a dozen in residence at CB.  The two hobbies put in an appearance, although not within a survey site.  One of the two juvenile grebes on the small dam has disappeared. There would seem to be a number of grey butcherbirds around - I heard them at most survey points, and on another recent visit had 3 in sight at once.

Close to 40 species all up for the morning, with no red-browed finches or kestrels showing up,  which is unusual.
