Thanks to all who responded to my inquiry about the Yellow Admiral – the Yellow Admiral, sounds like the name of a  baddie in the old-time strip, Terry and the Pirates. Strange I’ve never noticed them in Canberra before.

It’s been a great season for butterflies in our garden. Since the New Year there’s been a splendid black and cream male Orchard Swallowtail Papilio aegeus patrolling almost every afternoon and, during the past week, a female flitting about on most days too.
