Fair
call and reasonable ask but I'd suggest the photo alone is not good enough to be
sure it is a juvenile, nor if it is, that it was born nearby. Not that either is
unlikely.
Having
said that I wrote several messages about the successful Hobby nest in one of the
big trees in the middle of Tuggeranong Parkway, Kambah, I think 2 years ago and
don't think I put in a formal record of it.
I
wonder why would there be a record of a Hobby nest building? They don't. They
use other people's (oops birds') nests.

Will someone who has seen this bird
PLEASE put in an incidental record for it. Having prepared the raptor entries
for the annual bird report for some years now, I find it dispiriting to
see and read on this chat line about breeding events and juveniles which never
make it to COG records. For 2009-10, for example, the only hobby breeding events
recorded were nest building and “on”, with no outcomes. PLEASE people, help us
save these valuable observations. If you don’t understand data recording, come
and see me after the next COG meeting for a run-through.
