This is a picture I showed at the Wetlands event this morning.  (Thanks Chris, Dan and Harv.)  Photographed from the bike-path on the northern side yesterday.  I counted 20 darter/cormorant nests between the hospice and the bridge.  There could be twice that number.  With the removal of the willows on the northern side you don’t need a boat to get a reasonable view of the action if you have binoculars.

 

Note the orange fishing lure. As the line hangs down from above it is more likely the result of an errant cast than a line-fouled bird (on this occasion).
