Yesterday (Sat) evening around 6pm Stubble Quail
were calling from many of the paddocks around Hoskinstown &
Carwoola.
If you are out this way keep a look out for the
emu. This photo was taken by a neighbour on our road.
There is usually a good number of species I am
pleased to see on the stretch of Hoskinstown Road as you leave Hoskinstown for
the first few kms towards Rossi. Last visit yielded amongst others Diamond FT,
European Goldfinch, Southern Whiteface and a number of Rufous Songlarks. In the
recent past I have seen Hooded & Flame Robins in that area.
Further along but still on Hoskinstown Road between
Yandyguinula (Reich's) Creek and Captains Flat Rd I often see Hooded Robin. Last
visit I heard the Stubble Quail and got views of Musk Duck and a sitting Black
Swan on Foxlow Lagoon with my scope.
On the Plains Road about 1km west from Hoskinstown
you will often see Fairy Martins grace the sky.
Cheers Julienne
