On Saturday, at Campbell Park, we saw an oriole's nest with 3 chicks
being fed. The nest did look as if it had been damaged in the rain.
This morning, no nest in the tree. It was on the ground with 2 dead
chicks in it. Sad. I guess that you could say that this breeding
attempt failed because of the rain. But think, those parents did
successfully stay sitting on the nest, through all that rain. Has
anyone seen any other oriole's nest, in the past few days, that has
survived completely.
There may be two families of jacky winters at CP. Definitely there
are several young birds
We saw the diamond finches again, and also a speckled warbler today
The noise of cicadas is deafening as you go into CP. But birds do
not seem to be interested in them. Maybe easy things to eat. Will
the cicadas lay their eggs in the bark of the trees there?
