Hi

The story of the Red Knot.
It is written - According to St Peter,St David and a Disciple

Peter Marsack, a chap called David and myself , all being early risers would meet irregularly in the passing at Jerra wetlands on a Sunday morning. I asked them if any of them had a Field guide as there was a wader I didn't recognise over at the sewage ponds.  Grabbing a guide we all went over and decided after looking at the guide that it was a Red Knot and, as digital cameras were even rarer than Red Knots in those days, Peter did one of his excellent sketches and then we all went home for breakfast, and I should add giggling like school girls. Knowing that this was indeed a rarity for Canberra and after going through every field guide known to man , I phoned up Anthony Overs asking if he was up to speed on waders, saying that we were 99.99% sure there was a R Knot at the sewage ponds but would like conformation. Anthony said that he wouldn't be that sure so he then contacted David Mac, I think through the brand new "chat line", and he then got in contact with Harvey. Both David and Harvey travelled to the wetlands to have a look and there met up with Maria and Philip who were just returning from the sewage ponds and that they themselves had seen a wader but were unsure of what it was, they then all returned to the "Big Pond" and confirmed that it was indeed a R.Knot and it was what we had thought we'd seen that morning.

OH JOY of JOYS!
  HALLELUJAH!

Amen

Bob

PS- Sorry for the JOYS of JOYS! HALLELUJAH! but after all it was on a Sunday when the blessed event happened.
PSS- I was going to put AND HE LOOKED DOWN AND WAS PLEASED WHAT HE SAW but I thought I'd better Knot
PSSS -  That's how I remember the event but then again others may have much much fonder memories
.

Bob
