Went to the first home game of the new Canberra Cavalry baseball team last night. As I got out of the car at the ballpark in Narrabundah I heard a koel somewhere in Goyder St. Welcome Swallows and Starlings both have active nests in the main stand. And magpies occasionally patrolled the outfield under the lights. I'd seen this before years ago at a game there, where the maggies were out foraging in the outfield until about 10.30pm.
