Shorebirds 2020 Project Manager

Employer:   Birds Australia
Location:   Melbourne
Salary/Conditions:   Salary range: $53,000-$65,000 + 9% super; 9-month contract
  -----
Shorebirds 2020 is Australia's national shorebird monitoring program. There is increasing evidence that migratory shorebird populations throughout the world are declining.

Shorebirds using the East-Asian Australasian Flyway are under threat from widespread habitat destruction, especially prevalent at staging areas in East Asia. Australia, home to 38 species of migratory shorebird during the non-breeding season, is uniquely placed to assess the impacts of these threats on shorebird numbers.

Birds Australia seeks a highly motivated professional to manage and deliver this important program in a diverse and rewarding position.

The position will require an enthusiastic, dedicated person with excellent scientific, organisational and communication skills. This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic team in a highly respected conservation and research organisation.

A nine-month contract is offered for the current phase of the program from October to July 2011, with ongoing work expected. Salary range: $53,000-$65,000 plus 9% superannuation.

Position descriptions and application details are available now from: http://www.birdsaustralia.com.au

Applications are due by 5pm AEST Thursday, 30th September 2010.

For more information on the program, see: http://www.shorebirds.org.au
