We started today at the end of Phillip Avenue Hackett walked along a narrow track to the Casuarina trail and back via the back of the houses track. As one would expect there were very few birdsaroound with strong winds and a maximum of about 9 degrees. However there were three interesting breeding records:
- Grey Butcherbird : Nest with young in a flowering Acacia dealbata near the start, (See attached, showing the nest with brooding adult)
- Galah: 2 birds entered a hollow about 15m up a dead Eucalyptus meliodora about 300m along the narrow trail;
- White-winged Chough: bird sitting on a very large nest where the narrow trail crosses a small creek.
