Has a search for Glossy Black-cockatoos around the Mt Ainslie summit area earlier today, found a patch where some birds had obviously spent a quite a bit of time feeding, judging from the large amount of chewings but it didn’t look very recent, maybe a week or two old. Possibly the same birds Jenny Bounds reported a few weeks back.

Birds seen or heard included Grey currawong, White-eared HE, many wattlebirds, Grey Shrike-thrush, Fan-tailed Cuckoo, Red-browed finch. A pair of Brown Thornbills had a nest well-hidden in the top of a fairly small Cassinia bush, I didn’t investigate too closely but from their behaviour suspect they had eggs.

cheers

Steve
