We have just had a flock of at least 15 Gang-gangs in our biggest yellow box. After making a lot of noise, they left in a rush so I might have missed a couple. A few weeks back I counted 25 in a small eucalypt along the Captains Flat Road. I don't think anyone round here feeds them.

Last weekend I circulated a proposal for a Gang-gang Census for 1
August (Sunday), 11am-12pm.
I am now sending a reminder in case there are other people who would
like to take part but haven’t contacted me yet.
I already have about 12 people (excluding myself and family). Thanks
to those people. The remaining areas that have not got observers for
them yet are:
1.Deakin, northern slopes of Red Hill and Redhill Drive up the restaurant.
2.Parks and reserves in Forrest, Griffith, Narrabundah, Kingston,
Barton (probably 3-4 observers required).
3.Campbell and Russell areas (2-3 observers)
4.Garran
If you would like to cover any of these areas or propose other areas
within the Central Canberra area (basically the areas of North
Canberra, Campbell, Russell + south side suburbs down to Hughes and
Garran), please let me know. I and members of my family will try to
cover any likely areas left at the end of this process.
More detailed instructions will be sent out at the end of next week,
but broadly the idea is stay in an area for the hour between 11-12 on
Sunday 1 August morning noting:
1.any Gang-Gangs seen, including sex and adult/immature status if possible,
2.any Gang-Gang calls heard but no birds seen, and
3.any GGs flying in or out of the area with time(s)
The Census will ideally be repeated each year to gain an idea of the
numbers of GGs present in the whole area, which is a know GG hotspot.
Thanks
