Many thanks to all for the Southern Whiteface ID assistance- Dropped
back this morning and saw several more at closer quarters, tho nesting
status uncertain.
I suspect my Tree Martins the other day may not have been TM - this
morning several Welcome Swallows were in and out of the Tin Hut building
roof.
Superb morning- WT Eagle, many Bronzewings, and m and f Flame Robins. On
the way out, two kestrels enjoying the sun on street lampposts at the
airport intersections Majura rd, Piallligo.

Subject: [canberrabirds] Tin Hut Dam at Googong - ID help
A quick visit to Tin Hut yesterday late morning showed a fair amount of
water in the dam (compared to recent months/years?).
Approaching the dam, c. 6 what I think were Tree Martins skimmed the water
before disappearing as specks in the sky.
Elsewhere, a couple of mixed flocks, including male and female Scarlet
Robins, Yellow-rumped Thornbill, Wagtail, Diamond Firetails, and others too
quick to see properly.
At least 6 Common Bronzewings in two groups.
Heading back to the dam a couple of small birds (sparrow size) caught my eye
on a distant dead tree (see attached)- the right hand one had either nesting
material or food in its beak. I did'nt see them in flight, and only got a
back view through binoculars. Although the photo is poor in the extreme,
would anyone have any suggestions for an ID?
