Yesterday, at Campbell Park, we saw a brown goshawk. It flew up from
the ground. We went to see where it had come from. It had flown
from beside a dam, the creek that runs up from the first gully across
the horse gate, rhs. There on the bank was a newly killed wood duck,
only its head and neck eaten so far. We moved away, but the goshawk
did not return. A couple of ravens flew in to partake of the
unexpected feed
Campbell Park is looking good. The dams are full. After an
unrewarding hour, we came upon a MFF. In this flock there were
Double barred finches
Yellow rumped thornbills
Buff rumped thornbills
Scarlet robins
Speckled warblers
Sitellas
Superb fairy wrens
Weebills
About Newline. On Saturday 19th as well as the white-breasted cuckoo-
shrike we saw 3 jacky winters and a grey shrike thrush, not mentioned
as seen by Sue. We did not see fuscous hes or southern white faces.
We did see the brown tree-creepers. How does such a small group of
tree-creepers survive there?
