Hi Bron,
The answer: From the 21 Year GBS Report:
Horsfield's Bronze-Cuckoo Chrysococcyx basalis
A woodland species with a preference for more open sites than the
following species. It has very consistent pattern. Almost absent from
April to July, it rises to a clear peak in October then declines
smoothly to the April minimum. ............
The emphasis of the answer to your question relates to my use of the
word "almost" in the text.
The graph in the GBS Report shows the species to have been present in
all months of the year but June observations are certainly rare. The COG
Atlas (text & graph combined) gives an almost identical impression.
So your obs is certainly worth noting and including in the COG record.

A single Horsfield's Bronze-Cuckoo sighted today at the Dunlop ponds
about noon.
It was silent, sitting for a minute on a branch then flying to the grass
for a further minute.

I'm posting because I'm not sure whether their presence is normal -
don't they migrated in winter?
