I
was in central Callum Brae early this morning when I noticed the sudden “migration”
of many different species of birds towards the quarry. Shortly after that
I heard the first balloon firing up its gas jet, then another, and another, and
another, and on they went. The birds all cleared out or went to ground,
and I gave the game away and came home.
I
have also witnessed a mass exodus of birds from Kelly’s swamp when nearby
balloons fire up their jets.
Should
one be concerned about these “machines” flying over nature reserves
in large numbers. The odd one would probably be OK.
