As mentioned in earlier post -- two weeks ago I ventured up Coila Ck again (a now-obligatory coast trip discovered by Rod a few years ago). Though the creek is around a metre lower than past years after the lake opened to the sea earlier in the year, it's still a great little paddle. There's always White-bellied Sea Eagles and Azure Kingfishers, and if you're lucky you get to see them quite close. This year three Sea-eagles and 5 or 6 of the stunning Kingfishers. One of the eagles was eating an eel which we got to see from close quarters until it flew off passing no more than two metres above my companion's head with half the eel hanging temptingly close.
