Sorry Geoffrey, I didn't mean to imply that they don't partake of fowl, just that they're unlikely to account for any population decline. You're right about the source of the image - I just checked my old MacMillans facsimile copy. One can only assume that he had mammal draughtsmen/women who were separate from his bird-illustrating team!
