I have used cat and small dog pellets bought at any
supermarket. Yesterday it was My Dog with Prime Beef, specially prepared
for small dogs.
After putting the cage in place, I am careful to put a little
extra dirt or compost over the wire on the ground (in the entrance tunnels) so
that the birds are not walking on the wire. I try to choose a spot that
gets shade in the afternoon for obvious reasons.

Nice catch Margaret, I'm going
to start using the trap I recently got as i've started seeing some Mynas round
my place in Aranda. What pellets do you use for bait and where do you get
them?
Thanks,
Simon

This
was really interesting. I had seen very few Indian Mynas for several
weeks, and for a time had stopped baiting the trap. A few days ago I
moved the trap and put some pellets in it, not expecting to catch much.
Even then, I did not see any more Mynas than before. This lot appeared
from “nowhere”. My guess is they were moving on at the end of
breeding, and just dropped in for a feed en route.
