General agreement that this appears to be a young Black-fronted Dotterel

A closer look at the wider photo showed also that there were two birds a
few metres apart which we had not picked up with the binos - both of
similar appearance.

At the F Sewage Ponds this morning, we saw a small wading bird on the
northern end of the east bank of Pond 4 which was at the extreme range
of binoculars and camera.
It was markedly smaller than the single Latham's Snipe which was
further south on the same bank.
the attached photo is very poor but it does give the overall colour
patterning of the body and head.
I think the bill was sandpiper length in contrast to the long snipe one.
Any suggestions most welcome
