Southern AOI joins the spectacular list

We met our hosts John and Sue Moore and headed to part of their property which includes frontage to the Queanbeyan River.  This part of the walk covered some grassy eucalypt country which was very pleasant to walk through with great views.   Surprisingly birds were not particularly common on this part of the trip with highlights being

• a probable juvenile Brush Cuckoo;
• a flock of 60+ Little Ravens;
• White-eared Honeyeater CF;and
• Black-faced Cuckoo-shrike ON.

After lunch - graced by a Whistling Kite, an addition to the site list - we headed off to a nearby padock with tussock grass and scattered eucalypts.  The action really sped up:

• 12  White-browed Woodswallows including CF, DY and most excitingly NY in the top of a sweetbriar bush (I knew briars had to be good for something)
• Dusky woodswallow DY
• Grey Fantail ON
• Diamond Firetail NY
• Australasian Pipit CF
• White-winged Triller 3
• Hooded Robin 3
• Flame Robin 2; and
• Southern Whiteface 3
