Dear Martyn,
It would have been better had
you asked me first, and then put the photos up. The photo of the
white-browed woodswallow is fine, but I must ask you to remove the photo of
the dollar bird. It is not a good photo, and well below the standard
I would normally agree to publish. It was only sent to local my
birdwatching group, and was never intended for publication.
I am CCing this to our chat line
in case others are unaware, as I was, that their images may finish up on the
Internet. Our chat line often contains poor images purely because
we need help in identification, and not the sort the authors would want
published.
Yours sincerely
Margaret Leggoe

Subject: Use of your Images on Birdpedia
Hi Margaret,
My name is Martyn Price and I run the
Birdpedia website.
I have taken the liberty of adding two of
your images to the Birdpedia Species database. To see what I have done please
use the following link (look down the bottom of the page – click on
‘Images…’ beneath your name.
http://www.birdpedia.com/au/bi.dll/bipu01?m=c99g&x=bi_birdpedia_contributors.htm
(if this link does not take you to the
correct location then use http://www.birdpedia.com/,
enter au in the box at the top left and click ‘Go’. Then look for
the ‘Our Contributors’ link in the right menu)
I am seeking permission to use these images
(and any other that you might have) to illustrate species. I have adjusted the
images (shrunk to 200 pixels wide and reduced to less than 15KB) to encourage
royalty free submission (images of this quality cannot be used for any other
purpose). I have provided a copyright and a an email address so that
users can contact you directly if they need to. I can replace the email address
with a URL to your website if you have one (or hide the email address if you
would rather people not contact you).
If you do not wish to give permission I
will remove your images from the site.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
Martyn Price
